Get your fundraising event in the press
If there's one way to boost your dosh-raising potential, it's to get yourself about a bit.
Radio, newspapers, television... they are all looking for good stories like you and your fundraising stunts. Your local media in particular will be interested to hear how you are planning to run through the town centre on a busy Saturday afternoon sporting only a smile and some goosebumps. There's a reason why the local press is called that you know; because it's after stories and news of local people like you.
Plus think how many more people you can reach by having your photo in the local paper or your mug on the regional news as opposed to just tapping up your family, friends and neighbours for sponsorship?
Now, here at gapyear.com we've realised that it might be slightly nerve-wracking to ring up these media types yourself to tell them of your fundraising plans, so we want to help you out... Get in touch with us and we'll give you a hand by contacting your local BBC station on your behalf.
If you are interested, drop Community Manager Leah an email including the following:
- Full fundraising plans
- Full gap year plans
- Hometown and local BBC station
- A bit about why your local BBC station would want to feature you
- Full contact details including contact telephone numbers
Then Leah will do the rest and fame and fortune is likely to be yours...
