As a School Assistant in a leading Canadian Boarding School, you will work alongside staff to teach and mentor students. Just as importantly, you will be immersed in the daily lives of locals in both the school and wider community. If you want to utilise or improve your French language skills, you can request to be placed in a school in Quebec.
There are no set formulas for the type of tasks you’ll be asked to do. Some schools may require you to be competent in a particular discipline. It may be on the sporting pitch, in the performing arts or in the classroom (maybe all three!). You may also be involved in other duties such as assisting the ground staff, tutoring individual students, escorting students to medical appointments, or staffing the reception desk. Whatever the situation, you’ll gain valuable work experience with a range of new challenges.
The more you embrace the challenges and responsibilities of your role, the more you will be rewarded. You may even accompany your students on trips to international destinations! Your accommodation and meals will be provided. In addition, you’ll receive a weekly allowance to cover incidentals and provide you with some spending money.
The schools in Canada are simply amazing. While some are conveniently located in large townships or cities, most are situated in regional surroundings that inspire an outdoor lifestyle. Skiing, snowboarding or hiking, you can find an outdoor activity year round.

Program Eligibility:
To be eligible for a ‘School Assistant in Canada’ gap year program with Letz Live, all participants must meet the following eligibility criteria upon at least 2 months prior to their arrival in Canada.
• British, or Canadian holder;
• At least 18 years of age - 2 months prior - to your of arrival into Canada;
• No criminal record;
• Have completed secondary school (or will have by time of departure);

Application process
Register your interest online via our website. Once application has been completed in full, our recruitment team will contact your nominated referees before arranging a pre-screening telephone interview with you. Your pre-screening interview is with a past Letz Live participant who will tell you about their experiences abroad, as well as answer any questions or queries you may have (we find that the best way to find out the ins and outs of a Gap year is straight from the horses mouth!). Once this has been completed, we will organize a mutually-convenient time for your formal interview with our recruitment team. Upon completion of your formal interview, we will commence placement formalities (assuming suitability).
