Following an overland truck across Africa Meat pies and sore bums (not that there's a connection...)"It's all fun and games now; we are meeting other travellers, listening to other tales and seeing other trucks. We have been to Kenya, Uganda and now have just come back down to Tanzania. Here are the highlights for the last three weeks... Pineapple Dougie in Nairobi looked after us well, with his great home-made meat pies and his dogs. We visited the Sheldrick Foundation to see orphaned elephants and have also seen hippo up close to camp at Lake Naivasha. It was here that some of the group decided to take up some physical activity by riding bikes around Hells Gate National Park. By the end of the day, there were more than a few sore bums and flat tyres! Others visited the Crater Lake to see wildlife in their 4x4s. Leaving their mark We also visited Bujagali Falls which is on the Nile, this is where most of the shenanigans took place. These included rafting, kayaking and visiting an orphanage where many helped out by building swings.  In the bar, Martyn decides to contribute some painting by painting his butt cheeks and leaving a print on the wall of the bar. The bar is quite lively at night and it is responsible for many sore heads... The gorillas at Bwindi National Park is one of the major highlights for a lot of people, this is where our Silverback (Kev) got to meet a real one face to face. At Lake Bunyoni, we take time out for a canoe and a swim and then head off to Kampala for a night out. Then it was onto Lake Nakuru where we went game driving in the truck - here we see our first rhinos, millions of flamingo, hyraxes, zebra, giraffe and buffalos. As we camp that night, Pong (Nick) wakes us as there is a solitary buffalo grazing quite close to our mosquito nets.  Spectacles in the wildNext onto Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Lots of the group take off on a 4x4 safari where we see loads of lions, spotted leopard, cheetahs, zebras, hippos, hyenas and much more. We even catch the beginning of the wildebeest migration! Zoe’s shoes disappeared from outside the tent one night whilst camping in the Serengeti, in the morning as the boys go looking, they find one with a lion paw print around it. They stopped the search for the other. Our six month anniversary was at Snake Park in Arusha, where MA and BJ were our hosts and cooked us a pig on the spit. We left a memento in the bar, which was a huge camel sign that Grant acquired from the Western Sahara. Martyn did a bit of artwork on it and we all signed it. It now has pride of place in the bar amongst several other pieces of memorabilia. Right now we are camping in the bush again before we make our way to Zanzibar.
