Join Oasis Overland on local buses, trains, planes and canoes for an adventure in Peru and Bolivia. This is a great trip if you don't want to travel on your own as you will be in a small group of like-minded travellers and our tour leader will accompany you all the way - even to the pub!

TRAVEL TO LIMA - BALLESTAS ISLANDS - HUACACHINA OASIS - NAZCA LINES - AREQUIPA - COLCA CANYON - CUZCO - INCA TRAIL - MACHU PICCHU - LAKE TITICACA - LA PAZ.

Oasis OverlandYour adventure starts in Lima, the capital of Peru where you can explore its many museums, markets and plazas. South along the coast we take a boat trip out to the Ballestas Islands to see seals, sea-lions, hundreds of birds and if you're lucky, dolphins! Journeying inland to the Ica Desert we visit the Tacama winery to try out a few Pisco Sours before heading to the Huacachina Oasis. A palm fringed lake surrounded by impressive sand dunes, you can relax on the beach, go for a swim and then if its an adrenaline rush you're after head out with your Tour Leader on a custom made dune buggy and roar across the desert sands to the top of enormous dunes and then sand board down them - imagine snowboarding but on sand instead! Tonight, after an unforgettable desert sunset, we sit around the campfire while our guides cook up a storm, followed by a night sleeping out under the stars.

From here we hop on the bus to one of the world's greatest archaeological mysteries, The Nazca Lines. These huge figures carved into the desert floor are best viewed by light aircraft. Thought to have been made by three different civilisations going back more than 2,000 years, there are many contrasting theories about what they signify and why they are there. Nearby is the Chauchilla Cemetery where we can check out ancient mummies preserved in the desert sands.

Leaving the Atacama Desert we begin to climb into the Andes mountains to Arequipa, a beautiful colonial city backed by three volcanoes. You can trek to the top of El Misti volcano or go white water rafting, horse-riding or cycling. There's also the option to visit the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the World and where you can see huge Condors circling only metres away from you.

Oasis OverlandA short flight over the Andes takes us to Cuzco, the outdoors capital of Peru and our base for the next seven days. Although Cuzco is a colonial city, most of its churches and museums are built on top of Inca stonewalls. We take a tour of the beautiful Sacred Valley where you can shop in local markets and explore Inca ruins and at the end of the day we camp at the start of the Inca Trail, ready for our big trek tomorrow! This four-day hike to Machu Picchu is a once in a lifetime experience - a stunning combination of awesome views, Inca ruins and magnificent mountains make this an unforgettable adventure. We have most of the final day exploring Machu Picchu before heading back on the train to Cuzco for a well earned beer.

Continuing on, we jump on the bus to Puno on the shore of Lake Titicaca. Bordering Peru and Bolivia at 3800m, Lake Titicaca is the original place of the Uros Indians who have made their homes on floating reed islands. By boat we visit the floating islands during the day and spend the night with one of the Indian families on Isla Amantani or Taquile. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the traditional lifestyle of the Andean people and their customs.

Leaving Peru, we enter Bolivia and stop at the lakeside village of Copacabana before continuing on to the capital city, La Paz. At 3,500 metres above sea level with mountains towering above it, La Paz has an amazing setting and is buzzing with people, many in traditional dress. There's loads to do and see including the witches market, the Coca Museum, churches and plazas and we spend our last evening together at one of the city's lively restaurant bars.

Ballestas Islands, Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca included in the price! Also all transport, accommodation and most meals.
