This is our shortest trip in Peru. Our trek into the Peruvian Andes leaves from Cusco, one time capital of the Inca civilizatilon. Depending on permit availability we will use either the 'Classic' or the more remote 'Lares' trail, following ancient Inca pathways and climbing to over 4000 metres in height. Our ultimate goal is the spectacular ruins of Machu Picchu, missed by the Spanish Conquistadors and only discovered by the American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. At the end of our trek we can enjoy a soak in the hot springs at the tiny village of Aguas Calientes before returning to Cusco where our adventure comes to an end.
