World-class game-viewing, relaxation and a big helping of adventure – the Big Five Explorer takes in the best of East Africa and culminates at Victoria Falls – Africa’s adrenaline playground.
Starting off in Nairobi, we head for one of Kenya’s most famous attractions – the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve on the plains of the Serengeti. Spot the Big 5 before heading to Uganda for a chance to see majestic mountain gorillas up close in their natural habitat. Head onward to the Great Rift Valley where you can opt to go rafting at the source of the River Nile, visit a chimpanzee sanctuary on Lake Victoria, or simply relax and meet the locals.
Heading back to Nairobi, we prepare for the next leg of the tour – crossing into Tanzania and visiting the UNESCO-listed Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti, which boasts some of the best game-viewing in all of Africa. Then it’s onward to Dar es Salaam and the white beaches of Zanzibar for a little rest and relaxation before we hit the road for Lake Malawi. Swim, snorkel, canoe or even go SCUBA diving, and meet friendly local Malawians too. Our final leg of the journey takes us to Victoria Falls, where there are loads of optional activities to take part in – bungee jump from 111m, go white-water rafting on the seething Zambezi River or take a flight over the falls in a variety of airborne machines.
Along the way you’ll the services of a three man crew (leader, cook, driver) on a fully-equipped expedition truck. We’ll provide camping fees and all appropriate camping equipment, most of your meals, a return ferry to Zanzibar and all road taxes and tolls.
