Gap Year ID and Discount Cards
Discount Cards for Backpackers and Travellers
ID and discount cards are an absolute must for any traveller on a budget. They’ll save you loads of money on attractions and activities, hostels and hotels, and on other things to do with travelling too.
For example, the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) card can be used in more than 80 different countries and it allows you to visit famous attractions such as the Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Warriors, the Red Fort in Delhi and Uluru in Australia at discounted rates, and that’s just a few of the benefits!
There are plenty of other cards that are worth looking at too; it’s just a matter of choosing the right ones for you.

Travel Money
Our Advice
It sounds obvious, but don’t be too visible with your money. If you’re paying for something that’s only worth £2 then you don’t want to take out and pay with a £20 note.
It’s a good idea to have a ‘change pocket’ with really small denominations and change for day-to-day things like water and sweets.
Quote of the Moment
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
