Ticket Information

There are several types of InterRail pass. The best and most expensive is a global pass that allows you to travel every day for a month in 30 countries. But there are also 15-day and 22-day global passes that allow you to travel every day and “five days’ travel in 15 days” and “10 days’ travel in 22 days” global pass options.

With a full monthly pass, you could decide simply to maximise the number of countries you visit – maybe by doing one a day. But if you want to see more than views from the carriage window and the insides of railway stations, it makes sense to plan a less hectic route that involves stays in interesting places along the way.

And it might be that your best bet is a single country InterRail pass that gives you three, four, six or eight days travel in one country over the course of a month. Europe’s bigger countries in particular all have plenty to keep even the most restless traveller occupied for a month.

With Eurail – the pass available to non-European residents – the options are different. Eurail covers only 22 countries rather than 30 (Eurailers can’t sample the Balkans, Poland or Turkey) – but you can get passes that last up to three months and passes for two, three, four or five countries as well as global and single-country passes.
