Cardrona Alpine Resort - the resort
"Higher, Drier and Naturally Better". This is the slogan of Cardrona Alpine Resort, located between Wanaka and Queenstown in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Cardrona is a high resort with wide open slopes, renowned among skiers and snowboarders for dry, natural snow, and a reliable season that runs from late June to early October. Its extensive ski area, large open basins, halfpipes, gravity cross course and terrain park trails make it a popular playground for freestyle skiers and boarders.
The courses
You will have approximately 20 hours per week of quality instruction provided through Cardrona High Performance Centre, and you will also have plenty of spare time to yourself to enjoy the mountains. You will be taught in small groups of up to 8 people per instructor. Not only will you see a vast improvement in your own technique, you will also be given the tools to become an effective teacher and share your expertise with others. Our courses will provide you with an insight into the service side of the industry, how ski and snowboard schools function, plan lessons, and you will also get to shadow instructors. To complement the instruction, a first aid course, recreational avalanche/backcountry course, and ski/snowboard tuning clinics are also included.Accommodation and meals
Accommodation is provided at the Alpine Motel Apartments which is located centrally in the town of Wanaka. You do have the choice of either a studio or a two bedroom unit. All units provide self-contained and spacious accommodation, full kitchens, en suite facilities, Sky TV, magnificent mountain views in quiet garden surroundings, and a short 2-5 minute walk to the town centre and lake. There is also a large laundry, ski storage/drying/waxing room, internet kiosk and wireless internet in most of the units.
