What to expect

Our snow sports instructor courses in Verbier are perfect for skilled snowboarders and skiers looking to gain an internationally recognised qualification during a gap year, career break or adventure holiday. You will spend time on the slopes working on your skills and technique as well as learning the fundamentals of mountain safety and how to instruct. Verbier is a great place to immerse yourself in the winter scene because, as one of Europe’s leading resorts, it combines a range of terrain with excellent après ski to create an experience you will never forget. Successful completion of the course will enable you to gain paid employment as a snow sports instructor at a number of resorts all over the world including Canada, Japan, Austria and New Zealand!

Qualifications

The Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications are awarded by BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors) who are part of the ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) and Eurogroup. This means you will be eligible to work as an instructor in Switzerland, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, Australia, South America, Japan and many other European countries.

Why Switzerland?

The world renowned Swiss resort of Verbier is situated an hour and a half east of Geneva. As part of the 4 Vallées, Verbier has a reputation that is unmatched by many European resorts due to its vast off-piste areas and steep terrain. It is also a ‘snow sure’ resort with the village nestling in a south facing bowl at 1500m and the lifts all extending to over 3330m. It has an abundance of groomed runs and is most famous for the powder and couloirs that can be found at the top of many of the lifts. Verbier is also a very pretty Alpine village with an après ski scene to rival any resort in the world.

Relaxing after a hard day’s training is just as important as your time on the piste and is vital to your enjoyment of the course as a whole. All that fresh mountain air will do wonders for your lungs and often serves to exhaust even the hardiest of trainees, but it is during your time off that you will form close friendships and have the time of your life as you explore Verbier and its surrounds!
