Coach & Play Cricket in Auckland
from £1295 GBP
to £2295 GBP
Coach and play cricket in Auckland New Zealand, you'll coach the junior teams at the club, then train with and possibly play for one of the teams at the club. Cricket is one of New Zealand biggest sports. Their recent performance at the World Cup showed why they are on of the best teams in the world.
On this project you'll be able to work at a cricket club, coaching the Juniors in the afternoons and evenings, as well as training and possibly playing for one of the men's senior teams. During the day you'll bring very welcome coaching skills to our sports project, where you'll coach a variety of sports to underprivileged children at a school.
The club we work with has a very lively social scene and you will be welcomed with open arms. As the main cricket project won't occupy all your time, during the daytime you'll work on the School Sports Project. Here you can coach cricket or a number of other sports for around 4-5 hours every day, leaving your evenings free to coach and train with the cricket team. What you'll gain from doing this project:
- An exciting, never-to-be-forgotten adventure into Latin America.
- You'll learn a lot from experts in your field about how they work in a cultural environment that's different to what you're used to.
- The enormous satisfaction of helping disadvantaged children and knowing that you made a difference to them
- New skills, more confidence, a greater understanding of a different culture, invaluable personal and professional development.
- An entry on your CV or résumé that will put you head and shoulders above most others in the job market
- And best of all ... an unforgettable experience!
You'll live in a centrally located hostel that is friendly and relaxing, making it ideal for long-term stays. You will be sharing a room with other volunteers. There is a communal kitchen and storage area for cooking meals and plenty of space to relax. What to do next

“I am emailing to express my thanks at the best three months of my life, spent volunteering in Auckland and Chong Ming Island. The support I received before my placement started was extremely helpful and was matched by local staff once my placement had began. It was good to know that despite being in an alien environment, there were people I could ask for help if it was needed. The placements themselves were great fun, and I really enjoyed working with the children and teachers, who were without exception, the nicest people you will meet. I really would recommend Travellers to anyone. Keep up the good work.”
