Field Studies Instructor

Do you have a passion for bringing the natural world to life for young people?

PGL is the UK's leading provider of residential activity holidays and educational courses for children.

We have opportunities for Field Studies Instructors to join our 2008 staff teams at beautiful locations on the Isle of Wight, in Dorset, Devon and on the Isle of Arran.

We're looking for graduates of geology, ecology, environmental science, geography or other relevant subjects to inspire visiting school groups and deliver our innovative, fun learning programmes. We'll also train you to be an Adventure Activity Instructor so you can lead these sessions when not on field studies duty. You'll also help with evening entertainments to ensure our young guests have the best stay possible.

You could be working with guests aged from 7-17, leading varying programmes all based around the centre's site and the local area. This role offers a great opportunity to enhance your CV if you're looking to move into a teaching career in the future. No previous teaching experience is required as we provide comprehensive training.

We offer a competitive wage, residential options, training opportunities & more.

No previous teaching experience is required as full training is given. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for people looking to start a career in teaching or environmental tutoring.

Accomodation and meals are included.

You must be either a UK/EU citizen or hold a valid UK work permit.

Our users say...

"I take the teaching of geology, geography, biology and science from the school classroom to the Osmington Bay centre and off-site trips. I liaise with teachers and tailor sessions to fit the group, with the age of the guests ranging from 7 to 18 years old. I also run taster sessions in activities such as abseil and archery.

After gaining a Masters degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, I jumped at the chance to work outside and also to be able to do a mixture of field studies and taster activity sessions.

From working at PGL, I have gained in confidence when it comes to doing presentations to large groups, especially ‘A’ Level students and in my ability to co-ordinate group’s off-site field trips. I have enjoyed instructing and found the job to be great fun."
