Product Details

The Venezuela Expedition is an excellent programme if you are looking to do an adventure expedition in South America. Like Real Gap's other volunteer expeditions abroad, it combines travel, adventure and volunteer work, so the programme is full of rewarding experiences for your gap year or career break.

Based in the town of Chichiriviche, located in Morrocoy National Park on the northwest coast of Venezuela, you will go away for weeks at a time and have the opportunity to get to know one of South America's most beautiful countries. You will visit the Orinoco Delta; trek to the summit of Roraima mountain; and have the chance to Kayak to Angel Falls, the world's tallest waterfall.

The expedition programme gives you an opportunity to explore the country, experience the beautiful beaches, mountains, waterfalls, rivers and jungles. Along the way there will be Spanish tuition, courses in survival skills and navigation and you will have plenty of opportunities to try out the many sports activities the country has to offer.

This gap year expedition programme is full of physical and mental challenges, with the added pressure of having to learn Spanish too! The itinerary, although changeable with the weather, involves exploring the rich wildlife areas of Venezuela and even hunting for an Anaconda.

Venezuela is a wonderful country and has a fantastic combination of geographical wonders. From the desert in the Northwest, to snow-capped mountains, rain forest in the South and the savannah. Venezuela is approximately size of England and France, and borders Brazil, Columbia and Guyana. Moreover, Venezuela is the land of records: it has the longest coastline of the Caribbean, the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls, and the Maracaibo Lake, the largest lake on the continent. Approx. 24 million people live in Venezuela. Indians are mainly found in the delta regions in South and East, and in all approximately 200 000 Indians are living within the borders of Venezuela. The main language of Venezuela is Spanish so there are plenty of opportunities to learn the language!!
