Product Details

Our volunteers make a real contribution towards enriching lives of the orphans in the Sucre orphanage. The children are aged 0-6 years old and have been abandoned and taken in off the streets in the hope of being adopted. Most children at the centre have never had a real childhood or experienced loving, caring, stable relationships.

This rewarding project includes everything you need plus you have a great opportunity to learn and improve your Spanish!

Volunteer Role

Volunteers are desperately needed to organize recreational activities for the children, such as painting, drawing, dances, music and sports. Volunteers will also assist in basic daily care of the children, including cooking, feeding and cleaning.

Your assistance contributes towards building children’s confidence and skills, from which they will benefit later on in life. You should be flexible to help with other tasks depending on the necessity at the time and willing to take initiative when needed. Volunteers are required to help in the morning or afternoon (or both).

Learn the Language: Combine this project with our Spanish lessons! A great way to learn Spanish before you start volunteering.

Project Location

This project is located in the beautiful and lively colonial city of Sucre; one of the principal cities in Bolivia. The city and surrounding villages have sizable indigenous populations that maintain their customs and colourful dress, which adds to the charm of this unique and diverse city- a fantastic place to volunteer.

Accommodation & Meals

Shared accommodation is in a volunteer apartment, (20 minute walk, or a short bus ride away from the Orphanage). Meals are not included during your stay. Usually volunteers take it in turns to cook meals or eat out at local restaurants, which are very cheap by western standards.

We offer hundreds of exciting gap year and career breaks from 2 weeks to 2 years in over 40 countries, including: adventure travel, sports training and coaching, conservation work, volunteering, paid work, teaching English and expeditions. Our experienced travel advisors, all gapers themselves, are on hand to help you plan your life-changing trip.
