Share your passion for sport in any one of a variety of exciting developing world locations. Plan and run sessions, pass on your knowledge, gain invaluable coaching experience, train and play with local teams, explore your chosen destination and have a lot of fun doing it!

In the same way as football provides Brazil's heartbeat and cricket is the life-blood of the West Indies, rugby runs through the veins of Fijians. Tropical, palm-lined, sandy beaches are festooned with games of touch amidst which the flair that has been associated with Fijian rugby for so long is amply displayed.

Fiji has traditionally been a powerhouse on the sevens rugby scene; in 2005 this reputation was further bolstered when they were named the IRB sevens team of the year.

As a madventurer in Fiji you can help to augment this success and let sections of society that may not otherwise receive a structured coaching environment to move closer to fulfilling their potential. Coaching can take place in a variety of settings, including schools (both primary and secondary), with clubs and in villages. For those with the enthusiasm and experience there may also be opportunities to get involved with representative teams.

Coaching doesn't have to be limited to rugby. If you have the passion and interest to organise sessions in another discipline you'll certainly be given the opportunity. No coaching qualification is needed to get the most out of a project. But if you do have them we will try and get you making use of them. All that is required is a love of your sport and a desire to share this with others. Due to the nature of development work it may be that specific project details will not be available until nearer your start date.

But it isn't all work on rugby coaching projects...oh no! Venturers have the chance to train, and even play, with local teams or can organise a team made up of volunteers and find some fixtures. On the playing side you will get out all that you put in.

On the other hand, if you want a break from rugby during time off, there's plenty of other activities to get involved with. Explore Fiji's capital, Suva, or the world-famous 'picture postcard' beaches. Take advantage of the excellent seas to indulge in some water sports; snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, sailing and more can be found.

If you're a member of a team looking to travel together...never fear, madventurer can organise tailor-made tours, including some coaching opportunities and games.

Sport has a definite power to bring people together across national, cultural and ethnic boundaries, come and experience this power in action and help to progress the cause of a sport you love in a nation you soon will.

Madventurer offers the chance to combine volunteer projects in rural communities with adventurous overland travel. Projects typically include building and teaching but medical, conservation and coaching schemes are also frequently run. Groups leave year-round to destinations in Africa, South America, South-East Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent and Pacific Islands.
