For applicants from the UK, we have a number of bursary schemes available for volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.

Our bursary scheme and funded placement projects reduce the barrier of cost for young people experiencing financial problems. They are designed to help young people who would not otherwise be able to afford to go.

These placements are on various Fijian islands and are mainly in schools where you will act as the teacher’s assistant or may be called upon to teach a class when there are staff shortages. It is more likely that you will teach whole classes in rural areas. Whilst in secondary schools (for pupils between the ages of 14 and 18), library classes will be your main focus with opportunities to get involved with extra-curricular activities like IT clubs, sports activities, music and drama.

Accommodation in Fiji is mostly with families or in school staff houses. This provides a great opportunity for you to become fully integrated in the community life of the friendly Fijian people.
