Gap Year Programmes
Designed for students who want to take time out before university and get some commercial experience under their belts. Our Gap Year programme runs from September through to March. That means you not only gain a unique insight into PwC and some great experience before you start your degree; but, because the programme only lasts seven months, you also have time to see a good deal of the world if you want to.

Spending part of your gap year with PwC is a great way to gain some real work experience, earn a decent salary and determine whether a career in professional services is right for you. And, if you use your year wisely, we believe it’s an experience that will enhance your appeal to employers like us after university.

It’s the real deal
Expect real client projects, real responsibility and real challenges. As a student on the programme, you’ll be treated just like a graduate joiner - with similarly high expectations about how well you should develop your business and commercial skills. We’ll give you a laptop, IT training and a grounding in general business skills. Depending on the area you join, this could cover anything from book-keeping and auditing to tax computations and actuarial modelling. There’ll be plenty of formal training along the way in the form of skills development workshops, but the truth is you’ll pick up a host of business and personal skills doing the job for real and your confidence will grow accordingly.

You’ll have support in the form of a coach, who’ll review your performance and make sure you make the most of your time with us, and a Buddy, who’ll sort out all your day-to-day queries. You’ll also be paid a competitive salary and, as well as putting your business acumen to the test, we’ll make sure there’s plenty of fun involved too.

The start of a beautiful relationship
One of the best things about the programme is that it doesn’t have to end when you reach university. Impress us during the placement and you could be awarded a PwC Scholarship. As you’d expect, we set tough criteria. But if you’re successful you’ll receive £1,500 each year of your degree studies and further work experience.

And whatever happens, we’re confident that, having had a taste of life at PwC, you’ll want to come back to us and start your career when you graduate.

Once you’ve done your research and submitted a good application then we’ll invite you to the first stage of a two-stage recruitment process - an interview and an Assessment Day. Which comes first depends on the office you hope to join. Assessment Days include three main activities - we’ll test your numerical and verbal skills, carry out an interview and ask you to take part in a group discussion or individual assessment exercise.
