Immerse yourself in Indian life and culture on a range of projects in a local community. You’ll have the chance to absorb the many beauties of Goa and help to educate and care for underprivileged children, with additional volunteering opportunities available.
Volunteering your time, support and encouragement to children and adults in Goa will help to make a huge difference. Your role as a volunteer will vary according to the needs of the project, you could be teaching at a local school, looking after children at a day care centre or getting involved with additional projects such as working with HIV/AIDS affected adults or caring for mentally-challenged children.
You will normally work at your project for 5 days a week, for around two to three hours a day. Your activities will depend on your allocated project. Teaching volunteers will assist with classes in maths and English, play games and help with arts and crafts. Childcare volunteers will be involved with every day care, creative activities, feeding and education.
There may also be the opportunity to work at a community care centre for living with HIV/AIDS, where you can work with adults to improve their quality of life or you may also be able to work at a school for mentally challenged children, providing much needed care and education.
