Croatia
Croatia is a really up-and-coming backpacker destination and it’s easy to see why. With 1,778 km of craggy coast, and over 1,000 small islands, Croatia boasts one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Europe.
Many people don’t realise that Croatia has a Mediterranean culture and lifestyle. Quiet towns and fishing villages can be found just outside loud and busy cities. Travelling between the two is like travelling back in time, many villages preserving an ancient way of life.
Classic Mediterranean cruises in the Adriatic Sea cater for both tourists and travellers, and you can dive, snorkel and swim in some of the clearest waters in Europe; the big cities of Dubrovnik and Zagreb are great for a party; and you can even stay in a lighthouse and cut yourself off from the world. Whatever you do, you’ll fall in love with Croatia.
What we recommend…
We recommend that you visit Lake Bled in Slovenia. The lake is situated in a picturesque environment, surrounded by mountains and forests, with a quaint little white church on an island in the centre of the lake. A medieval castle stands above the lake on the north shore to perfect the picture.
It’s a gorgeous little destination. We recommend you take your own picnic and bask in the park. Certainly not one to miss…
