Global Pass – An InterRail Global Pass is your most flexible and budget-friendly option for seeing Europe, enabling you to travel in the 30 participating InterRail countries. However, unless you want to see nothing but trains and stations it’s unlikely that you’re going to see all 30 countries. It’s best to choose a specific area to travel around. Aim to see four to ten countries rather than trying to squeeze in as many as you can.

There are a number of passes to choose from; it’s finding the right one for you.

There are two options:

1) A cheaper limited ticket: where you choose between

·         5 days of travel in 10 days

·         10 days of travel in 22 days

2) Continuous travel for:

·         22 days

·         1 month

If you think you know the exact route you want to take then the 10 days of travel in 22 days is an excellent option. You do have to be organised and follow a specific itinerary, but it offers the best value for money and it allows you to travel around a few countries.

However, if you’re of a ‘let’s see what happens’ disposition then the 22 days or 1 month continuous travel ticket allows you to follow a rough plan without the worries of which days to travel. You can travel as and when you want.

A continuous travel ticket lets you to travel around a number of countries in Europe, offering fantastic value for money.

One Country Pass – An InterRail One Country passes gives you the opportunity to really get to know a country inside-out. There are 28 participating InterRail countries to choose from; it’s just finding the right one for you.

You decide which days you want to travel, and where. A One Country Pass is valid for a month, so there is a lot of scope for flexibility. All you need to do is to choose how many days you want to travel within that month, either 3, 4, 6 or 8 days of travel.

There are four price levels, with each country assigned to a price levels.

The top five most popular InterRail countries are:

1.       Italy

2.       Spain

3.       Benelux (Belgium, Luxemburg, the Netherlands)

4.       France

5.       Germany

Top tip:

Consider giving yourself an extra day of travel, just in case. It will give you more flexibility if you need it and make act as a safety net if unexpected things come up. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
