Build homes for underprivileged families in Vietnam

Build homes for underprivileged families in Vietnam

Duration: from 2 Weeks to 6 Weeks

Countries: Vietnam

Vietnam’s monsoon rains may be good for its lush scenery but they can cause a few problems for poorly constructed houses. You can help to re-house local families and give them much-needed protection from the elements.

Working south of Ho Chi Minh City, the project helps to re-house families whose homes have been damaged by the elements and have no real refuge from the weather!

You will be rolling up your sleeves and joining local builders on the project Monday to Friday, working between 8am and 4pm. Your activities will vary according to what is needed at the project and will be likely to include the following:

• Pulling down seriously damaged houses
• Mixing sand with cement
• Plastering walls
• Bricklaying
• Levelling the ground
• Transporting building materials to the site
• Teaching English in the local community, especially to children from the local secondary school when you get the chance!

If you are at the project when a house is finished, you will be able to get involved with the transfer ceremony when the house is passed over to its new inhabitants, which is a moving and unique experience.

• Fundraising for the orphanage
• Improving the appearance of the orphanage
