An elective abroad is one of the most selfless things you can do, and it’s a fantastic way to spend your gap year. It’s a life-changing experience and you’ll help the underprivileged from all walks of life. Companies such as Genie and Medicine sans Frontier have made electives possible for all ages, and all skills.
An elective abroad is not only an amazing thing to do, but it looks amazing on your CV. Medicine, physiotherapy and veterinary science are extremely transferrable skills, and they can be used worldwide.
There are plenty of opportunities all over the world for anyone who wants a caring gap year. You can work in a hospital in poverty-stricken East Timor to work experience at a veterinary surgery in Mongolia. The only thing that’s limiting you is your ambition and imagination.
Whatever your skills or amount of time you have available to offer, there are people who will benefit from you volunteering.
Volunteering is an amazing experience, not only for you, but for everyone you work with.
