A cricket training academy in Australia is one of the top places in the world to improve your cricket skills and technique. You will have access to professional coaches and sports psychologists during your time at the academy in Perth, helping you reach your full potential through training and playing the sport you love. You will also play club cricket to maximise your exposure to the best possible level of players and competitors.
Where will I be?
The programme is based in Perth in Western Australia, which has a warm climate and a relaxed atmosphere. It has a high concentration of top class cricketers, not only from Australia but from all around the world, whose passion for the sport is infectious. Watching, training and playing cricket in Perth is the best possible start to a career in the game and will give you some fantastic memories you'll never forget. Team based training as well as one-to-one sessions will see great improvements in your playing ability, giving you more confidence to become the next Kevin Pietersen or Shane Warne...or maybe even better.
What will I be doing?
On arrival at the academy, you will receive a detailed assessment of your cricketing strengths and weaknesses. This assessment will provide the foundation for your training programme with the coaches setting clear performance objectives. These goals will then be reviewed on an ongoing basis to track and push your development. Once your goals have been set, training will commence and continue over the following weeks. The coaches will spend one-to-one time with you, assessing and improving your technical approach to the game, giving you plenty of time to develop your skills during practice sessions and competitive match play. Whether you are a batter, bowler, fielder or wicket keeper, your all round game will be vastly improved through guidance and continual evaluation from the academy’s coaches.
Match play is obviously very important for any aspiring sportsman and your time at the academy is no different. You will play and train as part of a club team (either external or within the Academy) against local opposition and it is during these real match situations that you will be observed by the academy’s coaches to analyze your performance and to ensure you are putting into practice the skills you have learnt in training.
What can I do after the academy?
After training, playing (and socialising) your socks off, Australia is an excellent country to travel around and the wild West Coast is a great place to start. The cultural, sporting and community events that this city hosts will entertain you during your stay and whet your appetite for the adventures yet to come. From Albany in the South West, up past the Coral Coast, through the Golden Outback and into the North West, Western Australia has a lot to offer any traveller hoping to discover the ‘real’ Australia. All that and you’ve not even gone anywhere near the excitement associated with the East Coast! Transport for travellers in Australia is really good so if you decide you want to work your way around the whole country and into the centre to see the world famous Uluru, there’s no reason why you can’t. The friends you’ve made during the cricket programme will undoubtedly want to travel as well so grab your cork hat, your boomerang and your thongs (all will be explained) and head off around one of the most travel-friendly countries in the world.
