The Abitibi and the Saguenay

The Abitibi train between Montreal and Senneterre covers 717 km. It travels with the Saguenay as far as Hervey Junction and then heads northwest on its own to Haute-Mauricie and Abitibi.
The Saguenay train between Montreal and Jonquire covers 510 km. It travels with the Abitibi as far as Hervey Junction and then heads on its own to Haute-Mauricie, Lac Saint-Jean and the Saguenay region. For some of the villages that you stop at or pass through the only way in or out is by rail, there are no roads and no airstrip.
Why buy this
Departing 3 times a week these sister trains travel through a beautiful land of turbulent rivers, countless little lakes lost in deep forests and, depending on the season, the countryside will either be decked out in shades of green or covered by a thick white blanket of snow.
The Saguenay river region boasts some of the most dramatic scenery in the province. Tiny scenic villages nestle between towering cliffs, deep fjords and icy waters. The Abitibi region is a sparsely populated land of lakes that was one of the last in Quebec to be settled. It's a place where dreams and hardships go hand in hand.
