Visas
Visas for Cambodia
Citizens of all countries (excluding Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore and Philippines) require a visa and a passport validity of more than six months balance at time of entry to enter Cambodia. The official price of a tourist visa is around US$20, and US$25 for a business visa at the time of writing. Visas at border crossings however, come at a higher price (upwards of US$30 for a tourist visa), so it is a good idea to obtain one prior to travel if you intend to cross at a border.
You can obtain visas at any Cambodian embassy or consulate overseas. In addition to this, visas are available at both Cambodia’s international airports as well as all six international borders with Thailand, the main border crossing with Laos and some border crossings with Vietnam.
The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs now offers an on-line e-Visa service for most countries which can be found at http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/vindex.aspx.
Please note that the e-visa is not valid at all ports of entry.
A tourist visa, when applied for in advance is valid for 90 days (i.e. must be used within 90 days) and is good for a 30 day entry permit stamp which can only be extended once for a further 30 days at a cost of US$15.
Business visas are the better option if you intend to stay greater than two months, or intend entering and re-entering the country multiple times. They can be extended indefinitely at a cost of approximately US$140 per six month extension. You can do this at many travel agencies.
All visitors must pay a departure tax when leaving Cambodia through the airports. The cost of this is US$25 if flying internationally and between US$4 – US$6 if flying domestically in Cambodia between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
As entry requirements may change from time to time it is strongly advised that you check with the department of foreign affairs or your local consulate or embassy for the current requirements.
