**Applications for 2012 are open!!**

Combining several different roles on a rota basis, General Assistants take responsibility for the presentation of the centre and the organisation, storage, issue and care of all PGL's activity equipment.

The role of General Assistant offers individuals a chance to work as part of a highly motivated team, in a professional, friendly and supportive environment.

As a General Assistant you would contribute to the general presentation of the centre and ensure the night security of our guests and staff members. At some centres this role is combined with driving duties, particularly at our sites in France and Spain.

In this role you may have the opportunity to try your centre's activities during your free time, building up your personal competency in the process. You may also participate in evening entertainments for our guests.

Skills

If you're looking for a gateway into a career in the outdoors but as yet hold no formal qualifications or experience in working with children, this could be the position for you.

No formal qualifications are necessary for this role as full training will be provided.

We're looking for people who are enthusiastic; enjoy working as part of a fast-paced team and who are willing to learn. Many of our Activity staff originally joined PGL in this role.

Duties

The cleanliness and appearance of the amenities at all our centres is vitally important and is often the first thing noted by our guests.

The role itself may vary between centres and will include maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of all staff and guest accommodation, alongside responsibility for care of the facilities and equipment on centre.

Training

We are keen to encourage development through our training programmes and many of our activity staff originally joined us in this role.

Not a lot of experience in this area? No worries! Anyone who joins the PGL Staff team for the first time with limited or no previous experience can join us on the PGL Apprenticeship Scheme. This provides an industry-leading package of training, support and qualifications, enabling people to join PGL at a range of experience levels and will equip you with the skills and confidence to perform your role. There are no age restrictions on our apprenticeship programme.

Staff Package

We offer a competitive wage, paid monthly, an optional free meal package with on-site accommodation provided, access to training and development opportunities and a free staff uniform that reflects your job role, location and contract length. If you are working overseas we also provide return transport from a UK departure point as part of your employment package.

Successful applicants are required to undergo an enhanced CRB disclosure, which PGL will pay for.

You need to possess the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for this position.

PGL is committed to the principle of equality and diversity. We welcome applicants from all sectors of the community.

User Comments:

“My knowledge of maintenance has increased through this job, especially with large buildings and buildings management. This job is good for people who aren’t sure about going into further education but would still like the student lifestyle. You get to live and work with other like-minded people, and it also provides an opportunity to live away from home without the responsibilities of bills to pay.”
