Thailand: Working in a school for special needs located roughly one and a half hours south-east of Bangkok is truly captivating. Patience is key as you impart into the lives of Thai children suffering from Autism, Cerebral Palsy and other learning and physical disabilities.
Throughout Thailand, schools need Letz Volunteers to motivate children to speak English. Encouragement is a crucial tool in fostering an effective learning environment for the children within the special needs program. English improves the chances in life for every child you teach - and being able to see the improvements first hand is truly a privilege! There are a variety of ways to encourage the children in their learning experiences - working one-on-one, games, activities and excursions are some of the best ways to engage with your students.
India: Working with Orphanages in Vellatur and Mopparu is highly engaging, as you are submersed in the Indian community – helping with the construction of accommodation, medical facilities and teaching English along the way.
You will be working with locals to provide housing and facilities for 100 orphans - assisting with the continued construction of various buildings and commecing work on a new medical centre. Also, despite English being one of the main languages spoken in India, conversational standards are usually very poor - during the volunteer program, there will be lots of opportinity to assist children and adults alike to enhance their understanding of the English langauge. Knowlege of english greatly increases any opportunties in life for those is developing nations such as India.
No trade skills are required for this volunteer position. Although any proffessional expertise would be gladly welcomed.
