As a volunteer at the sanctuary, you will be involved with an array of activities from feeding the animals to assisting with veterinary when required. Special skills are a definite bonus, so if you have knack for fixing things or if you’re a dab hand at landscaping you will find your abilities very much in demand!
You may also occasionally be able to to share your new knowledge with tour groups and to educate the public about the importance of conservation.
Your duties will be many and varied according to the needs of the centre, here are some of the activities you can get involved with:
• Helping with food preparation
• Feeding the animals
• Cleaning enclosures
• Animal Enrichment
• Gardening/landscaping
• Performing maintenance tasks
• Sorting fresh produce and rotating food supplies
• Maintaining proper animal husbandry notes in the journal
• Assisting with veterinary care as needed
• Administrative duties
