Why your help is needed?
For Chile and its citizens, mastering the English language is necessary to sustain the growth of the nation’s emerging economy while meeting the challenges of an increasingly global world. As a result, the Chilean public school system is undergoing profound changes regarding English language education, emphasising the listening and speaking skills that will enable its students to succeed as members of a global community.
In 2003 the Chilean Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) created the English Opens Doors Program to develop public policies and apply technical expertise to improve the use of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), making it more accessible to all school-age Chileans.
The Teach and Travel Chile programme is one of a number of initiatives that has been developed by the English Opens Doors Program. The programme trains English-speaking volunteers to serve as English-language teaching assistants in public and semi public schools throughout the country. Volunteers work with elementary school students (5th to 8th grade) and secondary school students (9th to 12th grade).
BUNAC is pleased to partner with the English Opens Doors Program and to help support these fantastic initiatives.
