Head to the island paradise that is Zanzibar and help give underprivileged children access to a better standard of education. You’ll practice you classroom skills teaching English, Science and IT, while getting a taste of African culture!
You’ll be based in historic Stonetown, within walking distance of your allocated school. Your teaching days will start bright and early at 8am, so you’ll need to be revved up and ready to go with lots of creative energy and enthusiasm.
As a volunteer teacher in Zanzibar, you will be working with two schools.
• Sun City School – nursery, primary and secondary
• Hurumzi Secondary School
The main subjects you will be teaching are English, science and IT. The schools are under-funded and resources are scarce, which means you’ll need to bring a focused but fun attitude to your lessons to keep your students focused and help them to learn. If you have a knack for arts, crafts, music or any other creative skills, you’ll be welcome to set up new classes or help with extra-curricular activities.
