Lattitude Global Volunteering has established partnerships with a wide variety of camps and outdoor education centres, some of which cater exclusively for disadvantaged or disabled members of the community. While paid staff are always present, our volunteers are in high demand to help meet the individual needs of every camp-goer. As an Outdoor Activities Instructor, your outdoor skills will be put to good use, especially with your involvement in such activities as: Kayaking Skiing Fencing Rock climbing Horse riding Hiking Archery Mountain biking Ropes Orienteering Snorkelling Sailing. All applicants are matched to placements to ensure that there is a good fit between the volunteer and their host communities. As an Outdoor Activities Instructor, your outdoor skills will be put to good use, especially with your involvement in such activities as:

  • Kayaking
  • Skiing
  • Fencing
  • Rock climbing
  • Horse riding
  • Hiking
  • Archery
  • Mountain biking
  • Ropes
  • Orienteering
  • Snorkelling
  • Sailing.

You’ll also assist with the supervision of camp-goers and participate in the general running and maintenance of the camp. In some cases placements will require a qualification in first aid or lifesaving.

Accommodation and food
Accommodation is provided by the host organisation, whether that is in the staff quarters in a residential home through the L’Arche organisation, your own room in a school boarding house or shared accommodation in an outdoor camp.  Accommodation generally comprises of a shared house, cabin or tepee (in the summer). Many camps are situated in incredibly beautiful places beside lakes and in the woods.

Anyone with a love of the Great Outdoors and a sense of adventure. Volunteers work as assistants of activity instructors and lead groups of young people in outdoor adventure activities. These placements are a great way to experience a new country, especially for first time travellers, whilst really getting involved.
