This placement would suit:

volunteers who love working with children and believe in the long term goals of the project. You will need to show initiative and enthusiasm in order to really engage with the class. To give you a head-start with teaching English you will be trained before you go on your project through i-to-i's International 40-hour on-line TEFL programme (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). This course is included in the cost of this venture. Remember that the children may come from difficult backgrounds and you will need to show patience and understanding and be able to act as role model. Skills in any extra curricular activities will be welcomed at this project, particularly art, music and sports.

This placement would suit:

Anyone with a love of children! There are no particular skills required but you must have a love of children. It’s a great project to use as part of a gap year or for anyone who just wants to do something amazing and perfect for anyone enthusiastic and pro-active. It’s a challenging and rewarding role so remember to be flexible and use your initiative. Any hidden talents in areas like sports, music, drama, art or fundraising will be more than welcome!

Volunteers who have a love of children and boundless energy! As Kenya is a country with few resources you are bound to come across challenges so come with plenty of enthusiasm and determination! Any skills that you have in areas such as sports, music, drama, art or fundraising will be more than welcome. Volunteers with experience in physical education and gymnastics will be welcomed to get involved with strenuous physical activities as part of detoxification and rehabilitation programmes for children coming off drugs.
