By teaching English to either adults or children, you will be giving students a gift that can literally change the course of their lives. Similarly, spending time living and volunteering in Asia is also an excellent opportunity for you to gain increasingly valuable language skills - why not pick up some Mandarin in China for example and see where your learning takes you? As an English Teacher you will be able to share your valuable skills in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, universities and other language institutes with people of all ages. “I had planned to take a year out for a long time. I wanted a break from education, a chance to do something different, an opportunity to rise to new challenges, gain independence, experience new cultures and meet new people. I had intended to work in the developing world in a caring capacity. However, more than anything else, my main aim was to go and do voluntary work abroad.”
