Get involved with Peruvian life working with vulnerable young people on a range of projects. Change lives and lend a hand at nursery schools, day-care centres, schools, orphanages and teenage boys’ homes.
Working with underprivileged young people across various projects your contribution will go a long way towards brightening the lives of some of the poorest and most vulnerable young people in the country. You can get involved with the following projects:
• Day-care centre – kindergarten level: Helping some of the poorest families in Cusco, with places for between 25 and 40 kids, the care centre needs volunteers like you to assist with playing, informal teaching and care.
• An orphanage: Home to children that have been abandoned or abused by their parents, the orphanage aims to work with families as well as children with the aim of reuniting them as well as giving the youngsters a range of new skills that will help them earn a living.
• Teaching in a school project: With just a handful of teachers to 50 children between 3 and 13 in four classes, your help is needed to ensure the children can get a basic education! Try your hand at everything from teaching basic maths and English, to organising workshops and activities.
• A home for teenage boys: A refuge for teenagers who do not have a home to go to or are unable to live at home, the home is the ideal place for anyone with a good grip on Spanish who has a knack with sports and working with teenagers!
