If you have a fascination for indigenous cultures then this where you want to go and help to sustain the indigenous peoples way of life before these precious cultures are lost! This project will bring you deep in to the amazing jungles of Guyana where many indigenous communities are struggling to keep their way of life.
The Amazon Jungle of Guyana is one the most unspoiled regions in the world, for it to be sustained it needs a sustainable economical value to keep out the loggers and miners. Without the jungle it's wildlife and the Amerindians way of life cannot be sustained. The local Amerindian communities hope that through small scale environmental tourism the surrounding jungle will get it's much needed value. Unfortunately the Amerindians communities do not have the material and financial means to set up the facilities to attract tourists and the tourist are not able to visit these remote area's without the needed facilities (it's a bit of chicken and egg thing).
Together with our volunteers, Fronteering aims to work together with local indigenous Amerindian communities to set up sustainable environmental friendly tourism. The ultimate goal of this project is to preserve the jungle and with it the wildlife and Amerindians way of life. This great volunteer abroad experience will lead you in the northern most frontier of the Amazon jungle in the southern reaches of South America’s only English speaking country; Guyana! Have the privilege to discover this country while it is yet pure with many interesting indigenous cultures to meet and amazing wildlife to view.

Imagine the sounds of night fading away while in the distance the horizon starts to brighten. You wake up listening to a serenade of thousands of tropical birds and an awakening jungle. Parrots fly overhead with their loud squawks, howler monkeys greet the sun with loud voices while you relax a few more minutes in your jungle hammock! Staring through the jungle canopy you see the blue sky lightening up between the trees.
It is this experience common in some of our volunteer projects and adventure travel trips in Central & South America that got me involved in setting up volunteer projects and adventure travel trips to help with long term sustainability of our last wildernesses and to protect it’s wildlife and the way of life of indigenous communities.
