Medical placements involve helping at Red Cross Hospitals and provide excellent experience for anyone hoping to work in medicine or health related fields. The work is varied as volunteers will work in a variety of wards helping with many different tasks. Japanese lessons will be provided at the hospitals and volunteers may be asked to teach English to the nursing staff. The more Japanese you know, the more responsible the tasks you may be given. The role of a medical volunteer in Japan is exciting and interesting and offers the volunteer a real insight into both medical care and Japanese culture. All applicants are matched to placements to ensure that there is a good fit between the volunteer and the hospital. Our partner hospital contains a multitude of doctors who hold fluency in the English language, enabling us to offer electives in Colombia with only a basic Spanish requirement (equivalent to 2 years study in high school). The Tirgu-Mures emergency response service (SMURD) is highly respected within the region for the amazing work they do in saving lives 24/7, all year round! Your role: As a medical intern in Romania you’ll work and learn in a frenetic medical emergency department. The staff are used to working with students and the Tirgu-Mures Medical University is a stone's throw from the Hospital. The emergency department moved in to a state of the art facility, which was funded by the World Bank, in late 2012 and the facility is now truly world class.
