Game Capture Team
from £2390 GBP
to £6790 GBP
Join the dynamic world of a wildlife capture team in South Africa.
Working with a dedicated mass and specialised capture team, you will be part of a local team relocating wildlife. Crucial for wildlife conservation and management, game capture also facilitates the up close and hands on work with wildlife that we all dream of! Learning a wealth of information about their behaviour to assist in the movements, you are often close enough to feel the texture of their skin and smell their breath!
What will I do
A 'real life' experience, this project allows you into a world of travelling through stunning landscapes and a cultural experience only this industry provides. Game Capture is often subject to the whims of the elements, especially the wind, and of course the animals themselves, so you need to be quite flexible.
- Join the specialised capture team working with endangered and rare species
- Get involved in the physical capture, translocation and release of wildlife
- Establish concealed net and curtain capture bomas in the bush
- Help with animal care in quarantine bomas when necessary
- Camp in the African bush
Accommodation is very variable. The base camp consists of comfortable, furnished safari tents but the team will often be out on the road for several nights a week.
Groceries are provided and volunteers prepare all meals and clean up after themselves. A packed lunch will need to be prepared each day for work in the field. Meals are often in the form of an African braii and eaten under the stars.
What support will I get
From the moment you first send us an inquiry, we are always just a phone call or email away. You can contact our office team with any question you have. We’ll be happy to help you as much as we can while you prepare for your conservation experience. Once you are in Africa, we have a dedicated team of coordinators who will look after you - whether you need help with your conservation responsibilities, are feeling poorly or need to get to a bank to get out some money.
If your family need to get hold of you in an emergency, we have a 24 hour emergency phone line, and we can always facilitate contact to you in Africa.
What's the next step
If you are ready to submit your application. You can do this online or by post. And don’t worry - you application does not commit you to anything. It is just an expression of interest on your side and it helps us prepare the best advice for you.

Once you are happy with your choices, we will set up your very own conservation experience for you and send you all the extra information you need - from the “small print” terms and conditions to insurance information. If you definitely want to go for it, all you have to do is send us a signed confirmation and a deposit of 295 GBP - or the equivalent in US$, CA$, AU$ or Euro.

“You can feel nothing but honour when you are dealing with and relocating game such as Roan or Sable, some of the most endangered bovids in Africa. On my last day, we had to relocate a male giraffe which is an experience that I’ll never forget!”
