For applicants from the UK, we have a number of bursary schemes available for volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.
Our bursary scheme and funded placement projects reduce the barrier of cost for young people experiencing financial problems. They are designed to help young people who would not otherwise be able to afford to go.

Your placement
Lattitude organises teaching English at schools and universities. This placement is in a small, friendly university of some 400 students. The University has five faculties. English is a central part of the teaching in each one. This placement involves to act as a classroom assistant, to give pronunciation practice in the language lab, run language clubs, and help with drama and/or sport, if you have the appropriate skills. There will also be a great deal of scope for you to develop teaching with small groups on a self-access basis. You will be assured of the full support of the Rectora and staff, who are very keen to be part of the Lattitude programme.
Most of the students are drawn from the locality and come from working class families. The University has developed very strong links with the community, and its facilities are permanently open to local people.
Locations
The university is one of a network of 50+ new universities across Mexico. It is around 10 years old and has a modern, very well equipped campus, which is being developed each year. The Mexican Government and the State of Hidalgo fund the University jointly. The curriculum is biased strongly towards technology; they run intensive courses lasting just two years, each year being divided into three 'cuatrimestres' of 12 weeks each. (The fourth cuatrimestre is devoted to work experience). The principal intake is in September, but students may also join in January and May. Courses are very practically oriented and designed to give the students skills that will be of immediate value to industry and commerce. The University has links with many companies in the surrounding area, where students are sent for their last cuatrimestre.
Qualities/skills required
An ability to speak Spanish is desirable, however if you have no Spanish but are willing to learn, you may also be considered.
