Teaching English - South America in Brazil

This is a great opportunity to teach English in the heart of Rio's 'favella' communities. Rio is always striking but not always for the right reasons; much of its population live in inadequate housing and have no access to the opportunities we take for granted. Working with one of two organisations, you can make a real difference at a grassroots level, equipping children and adults with the language skills necessary to build better and brighter futures.

This placement would suit:

Anyone keen on immersing themselves in South American culture and helping under privileged children. No qualifications or previous experience are necessary, just a good dose of enthusiasm!

Duration details:

The maximum set duration is 12 weeks, but this placement can be extended up to 6 months total

People with a can-do attitude who are willing to make the most of their placement and above all enjoy it. Those who enjoy teaching English as a foreign lanaguage, are sensitive to the predicament of under privileged children, are interested in poverty and development issues and are interested in music and culture of Latin America

Cost details:

Those on teaching placements take a one-week Teaching Skills Course before departure which is held in London and the cost is covered in the fee. Volunteers also have the option of a  one-week Portuguese course in Brazil.

This placement would suit:

Someone ho wants a meaningful hands-on experience, whether you’re encouraging students to speak English or helping to sustain the environment through conservation work. Lattitude requires innovative, enthusiastic and hardworking volunteers. In return you will experience a culturally rich country and have the opportunity to learn a new language.
