As a volunteer you will be based at a well-respected elephant foundation in Ta Klang village in Tha Toom district of Surin. Established in 2006, the centre has been dedicated keeping elephants in their hometown where they can be properly looked after and currently houses over 80 elephants.

You’ll spend your first 2 weeks helping at the project from Monday and Friday between 8 am and 5pm. Your role will be focused on working with the elephants and also teaching English language to the mahouts. Your activities will vary but will include: cleaning the elephant compounds, grass planting and watering, showering and scrubbing the elephants and learning how to effectively control the elephants is also very important!

After a quick pit stop to recharge your batteries on Bangkok, it’s time to start your adventure. In just a few weeks you will; take in the highlights of Chiang Mai, trek through forested, hilly terrain in Huay Nam Dang National Park, spend the night at a Karen hill-tribe village where you’ll experience life as a local, ride elephants through lush scenery and set off bamboo rafting through the rapids! That’s what we call an adventure.
