On this two-week adult 19+ Costa Rica and Panama summer adventure, cross the border into Panama to volunteer on service projects, learn about the Panamanian way of life, and earn your NAUI scuba certification in tropical Caribbean waters. Then, hike through remote and spectacular regions of Costa Rica surrounded by rainforest valleys, cascading waterfalls, and winding rivers as you make your way from homestay to homestay.
In Costa Rica, your rainforest trek will bring you to the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest and its culture. Navigate through dense tropical jungle to a series of rural homestays where you’ll discover the slower rhythm of living that inspires the “pura vida” lifestyle and and live within the local communities. Rappel an 80-foot waterfall and harvest sugar cane from scratch before leaving the jungle and beginning your beach phase with some of the best surfing destinations in the World. Conclude your experience in Costa Rica along the Pacific coast at Manuel Antonio National Park spotting exotic wildlife including monkeys, lazy sloths, and tree frogs. Return to our rainforest base for one last day trip full of whitewater rafting, ziplining, and visiting the local artisan market in downtown San Jose.
Then, travel to the island of Solarte in the famous Caribbean archipelago of Bocas del Toro to volunteer with indigenous communities and begin the process of becoming scuba certified. Learn how to ready your equipment, write out dive tables, and properly dive and discover spectacular tropical coral reefs and magical bioluminescence on a night dive. For those who are already scuba certified, earn your advanced certification by participating in special dives including a compass navigation dive and deep dive.
Immerse yourself in Caribbean culture and work alongside your coursemates as you cook with local ingredients, sleep under thatched roofs, and learn first hand about the way of life for this small island community. Discover more from the community by interacting with local school officials and school children building playgrounds, clean water systems and earning volunteer hours around the archipelago. Test your tenacity as you learn to wakeboard or perfect your wakeboarding technique on some of the most ideal, calm warm waters found anywhere on earth.
