If you’ve been on a short skiing or snowboarding break, you already know that it’s awesome – so imagine doing it for months. You can make it happen by basing a big chunk of your gap year around winter sports, whether skiing in Japan or snowboarding in New Zealand!
There are more options than you might think too: if you’ve saved up plenty of money you can spend the whole time carving the powder (or whatever ski slang is cool with the youth these days) at your leisure, building your way from bunny to black slope, or you can take the opportunity to earn as you go, working in ski resorts or as an instructor. You still have plenty of time to hit the slopes and partake in après ski, and you’ll be introducing a whole new generation to the brilliance of winter sports.
Depending on the time of year, world class winter sports can be found all over the world, from places closer to home like France and Austria, to somewhere further afield like Japan or Canada. What are you waiting for?
