Pack a Bag and Go, Go, Go!
You don’t always need to plan travel months or years in advance. Sometimes the best way to squash the travel bug is to be spontaneous and just leave, like, right now. Here are some ideal destinations for spur of the moment weekend excursions.
Valencia is probably warmer than where you are right now, and the beaches are just a short tram ride from the city. There’s also plenty of history to explore, a great selection of bars, and more paella than you can shake a maraca at.
Belfast, Northern Ireland
A weekend in Belfast is plenty of time to see the murals of the Gaeltacht Quarter, visit the Titanic Museum, drink Guinness in the Cathedral Quarter, or head to the Antrim coast to wander the Giant’s Causeway.
If you fancy a fairytale weekend, Bruges is the place to go. Its medieval buildings, canals, and winding lanes create a genuinely magical atmosphere. Come Sunday you won’t want to leave.
Currywurst, the Brandenburg Gate, steins of beer, following the hipster trail of Photoautomat booths… you could spend weeks in Berlin, so you’ll never get bored on a weekend here.
The city itself is compact enough to be seen entirely on foot, and there’s loads to see (including the world famous penis museum). You can also take day trips out to some of the incredible natural sights or to hunt the northern lights.
