You can now fly direct to Iran with British Airways, after sanctions were lifted.
Six return flights a week will run between London Heathrow and Tehran, Iran’s capital, increasing to a daily service by the end of the year.
The direct service hasn’t been available since 2012, when it was suspended due to instability in the country.
Flights have now resumed after the international nuclear watchdog said Iran had met its obligations under a deal with six world powers, meaning some sanctions have been lifted.
‘Tehran is an important destination for British Airways,’ said a BA spokeswoman, ‘and we wanted to ensure the service we offered met the highest standards our customers rightly expect of us from day one.’
It has been possible to fly to Tehran from Paris since April, when Air France resumed the route for the first time since 2008.
