There are game consoles in every room and a huge comic book library
Amsterdam is already a hugely popular backpacker destination (can you guess why?), and hoping to capitalise on that fact is The Arcade Hotel, Europe’s first hotel dedicated to gaming, which opened its doors last weekend.
It’s situated in the De Pijp area, south of Amsterdam city centre, and offers rooms equipped with retro consoles – NESs, SNEs, Ataris, and more – and games for no extra cost. There are more consoles in the lobby, so you can challenge fellow guests, as well as a selection of handheld consoles old and new.
The lobby is also home to an extensive comic book library, so there’s something to read while you’re waiting for your turn.
There’s also plenty of food (including huge breakfasts) on offer, bike hire (an Amsterdam staple), and a wide selection of drinks. So if you’re better at FIFA when you’re drunk, this is the place for you.
