Jennifer Aniston voted ‘best road trip buddy'
Perennial rom-com star Jennifer Aniston tops meaningless TV poll
Jennifer Aniston has starred in some of the most underwhelming and contrived films ever made, but it appears that UK television viewers have chosen her as their ideal long-distance road trip partner.
The rom-com actress picked up 13.5% of votes in a poll of more than 1,000 TV viewers to mark the start of Sky Movies HD Road Trip Movie Season.
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg came second with 10% of the vote. Jim Carrey, star of The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, came third with 8.5%.
Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, who both appeared in road trip movie Rain Man, were also high on the list of potential road trip buddies.
Other big names in the top 10 were Gerard Butler, Robert Downey Jr, Chevy Chase and Russell Brand.
The results of the poll are perhaps not surprising considering Jennifer Aniston has recently appeared in a film called Wanderlust, and Simon Pegg’s alien road trip movie Paul was a solid hit.
Interestingly, Susan Sarandon made the top 10, whereas her Thelma & Louise co-star Geena Davis did not.
According to TravelMail, Sky Movies scheduling manager Jade Tan said: "It's clear that comedy is the best policy for a road trip partner, and Jennifer Aniston, Simon Pegg and Jim Carrey most certainly have it covered.
"Whether they're on the run, on a buddy trip or a wild adventure, all of these names would definitely deliver a trip to remember."
Jennifer Aniston made her name as ditzy waitress Rachael in Friends. She has since gone on to appear in cinematic offerings such as Bruce Almighty, Along Came Polly and The Break-Up; all of which see her essentially play exactly the same character.
Movie buffs may remember Aniston fondly for some of her early work, including the 1993 cult film Leprechaun in which a demented, magical Irish dwarf mercilessly stalks teenagers for the purposes of entertainment.
