For that 'all-authentic slum experience' you've always wanted

Part of the hotel has been set up to look like a slum – cashing in on the practice of 'slum tourism' that's so popular now. It's estimated that worldwide 1 in 8 people live in 'slums', so it's only natural for gappers to want to see what they're like. But surely, you want to see what they're really like, not a candycoated version that comes complete with Wi-Fi.
The shacks are made from scrap wood and corrugated metal – all with the aim of giving that 'slum look' without the crime, disease or poor sanitation. There's a long drop toilet to try for that all-authentic experience and if you like, you can heat your water on the outdoor fire.
Now you can experience staying in a Shanty within the safe environment of a private game reserve. This is the only Shanty Town in the world equipped with under-floor heating and wireless internet access! – so they say.
Rooms cost around £50 per night. The Shanty Town at Emoya Luxury Hotel and Spa has a TripAdvisor rating of 3.5 from 19 reviews. Some of our 'favourites' for this imitiation slum include.
"The bath was not clean."
"My husband is still trying to shake off the TB infection he caught due to the insanitary and damp conditions."
"Our kids are still blacking out over the psychological trauma."
What do you think – absolutely ridiculous or just another themed hotel?
