Supermarket cat to be remembered with statue at store he visited every day

For the last 6 years, Morrisons in Saltney, UK was visited by Brutus the cat, who soon became famous for roaming the aisles and greeting customers.

Sadly, Brutus passed away last month from Polycystic kidney disease. To make sure he isn’t forgotten, his owner Claire Owens is raising money to have him immortalised as a statue at the front of the store.

Brutus the Supermarket Cat

“He delighted children and adults alike with his cheeky 'cattitude', investigating shopping in people's trolleys as they left the store, jumping into cars to investigate, sneaking down the pet food aisle to see what kind of offers were on, and just generally being there daily for everyone to love and fuss,” says Owens.

“We thought that a memorial to honour Brutus is only fitting, so that people can still say hello to him and have something to remember him by,” said Claire Owens, his owner. “It makes us happy to know that he brightened so many peoples’ lives.”

The crowdfunding campaign is looking to raise £5,000, partly for the statue and partly to donate to local animal charities.

Here are some more pictures of Brutus, clearly an awesome cat.
