Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Tower will be 3,280ft high when finished

If there’s one thing humans will never get tired of doing, it’s building seemingly impossibly tall (and just a little bit phallic) skyscrapers.
The record of world’s tallest building looks like it will soon be snatched from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which stands at 2,722ft, as Saudi Arabia has secured the necessary funding to erect Jeddah’s Kingdom Tower, which is intended to reach an incredible 3,280ft.
The Kingdom Tower in Jeddah
The entire project is expected to cost around $1.2billion, and the aim is to have it completed by 2020. Work has already started up to 26 floors – the final building will have 200. Inside there’ll be a 200-room hotel, 121 serviced apartments, and 360 residential apartments, as well as numerous observatories.
Located in Obhur, north of Jeddah, the Kingdom Tower will offer unparalled views over the Red Sea. The three-sided building, designed by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture, will have notches in its side that will provide patches of shade, in which outdoor terraces will be built.

It will also boast the world’s highest observation deck, at around 2,000ft up. Basically, if you like going up tall things, the Kingdom Tower is soon to be a brand new entry on your bucket list.
