Hi guys,
So I’m leaving my role as travel editor at gapyear.com. After two and a half years it’s time to move on and make a name for myself elsewhere. Is this the last you’ll hear of me? Hell no.
I’ve had an amazing time working here and that’s been because of you guys – the travel community is what this site is all about. I hope I’ve inspired and advised you to travel in some way, shape or form over the years.
At the end of the day, I just want you guys to travel, to go out there and experience it for yourself. I don’t care whether that’s backpacking, volunteering, or working abroad, just as long as you’re doing it.
I’ve written an article on the 10 things I’ll miss about gapyear.com so you’ve got to check it out – http://www.gapyear.com/features/203361/10-things-ill-miss-about-gapyear.com
I just wanted to say I’ve loved working with all the gappers on gapyear.com and no doubt I’ll keep on using the boards in the future!
Now it’s time to say goodbye, or fuck off, or whatever, but if you’ve got any last minute questions then you know what to do – ask below and I will answer.
See you on the road guys…

Good luck mate!
You’ll be missed on this site.
Hmm, questions…
OK, if you could give one bit of advice to someone who was looking to do your job (or similiar), what would it be…?

If you’re looking to work in the travel industry, then you’ve got to believe in yourself. It’s easier said than done, but if you’ve travelled you would have come across a million and one people who say “I’m going to write a book” or “I’m going to become a travel writer”. Do any of them do it? Rarely. That’s because they don’t have the conviction to follow through with their wishes and desires.
If you really want to work in this industry, perservere. If you believe in yourself, it will happen.
Also, start a blog, now. With a blog you really get to show the world your personality, and that’s almost as important as anything else!
I hope that helps a little bit!
